Eli says that including μ's, all school idols are amateurs, and Umi retorts saying she can't criticize them like that, but Eli just walks away. While it got them more fans, Eli intended it to show that they don't have any potential. She figures out that Eli is the one who recorded a video of their performance and uploaded it online. In episode 7 of School Idol Project, Umi ends up talking with Eli. That part also happens in the anime adaptation. Umi kind of pushes on her and puts her hands on Eli's shoulders with a smile. Later when Honoka reaches her hand out to Eli to join μ's, Eli is conflicted. In the "Bokura no LIVE Kimi to no LIFE" PV, Umi is seen walking with Eli. Early on in Love Live! PVs, Umi was shown to be a lot closer to Eli, much like Nozomi and Eli's relationship in the anime, implying she was originally intended to be a third year with her.
